Julia

That was a month ago. My five—year-old niece Yulia was staying with us (and we live alone with my mother). My sister went on a business trip, and Yulia had no one to leave with. Since Mom works, I had to take care of my nephew. It's not that I don't love her, but babysitting is clearly not my calling. In general, I lasted a week, and then I went to the cottage to dig in the garden beds and returned only two days later, and even then about three o'clock in the morning (the car broke down on the way).

I go into the house, I don't turn on the light, so as not to wake anyone up. I went into the kitchen and almost died of fright: Yulka rushed at me from somewhere in the corner. Pushing me, she ran out of the kitchen and ran crying into her mother's room. I felt ashamed — I scared the girl, and I was scared myself. I was also surprised—what was she doing there?

In the morning I ask my mother — why does Yulka wander at night? Mom looked at me as if I were sick and said that Lisa (her sister) had picked her up the day before yesterday, and there were no other children in our house. But I saw Julia as clearly as I see the monitor now. What was that? ..

To say that I was shocked is an understatement. She ran up to me, pushed me, I felt her touch!

A couple of days later, my mother came home from work worried and asked me to tell her everything again, in more detail. When I told her what Julia was wearing (and she was wearing a white nightgown at the time), Mom said:

"She didn't have any shirt, she was sleeping in her pajamas.

And sure enough, she had such pink pajamas, Julia loves her very much and sleeps only in them.

Mom was upset—she said it was a bad sign. Sure enough, a few days later, Yulia was admitted to the hospital — she knocked over a hot kettle and burned her leg. And when my mom and I came to visit her, she was wearing a white hospital gown, exactly the same one I saw on Yule at night...
